2.85mm PLA Pro filament redefines desktop 3D printing standards by combining the extreme ease of use of conventional polylactic acid with significantly improved mechanical properties. Designed specifically for professional and industrial environments demanding absolute reliability, this material offers impact resistance and toughness equivalent to ABS, completely eliminating problems of thermal deformation (warping), layer splitting, or the need for heated enclosures.

Thanks to its advanced formulation with high molecular stability, it guarantees a consistent flow through the nozzle and exceptional layer adhesion. It is the ideal filament for optimizing manufacturing times in direct drive or Bowden extrusion systems, allowing for smooth, technical quality surface finishes with rigorous dimensional accuracy. Optimize your production of tooling, functional prototypes, and end-use components with an industrial-grade material that does not compromise the health of your extruders.

Filament compatible with:

  • BCN3D: Epsilon W27, Epsilon W50, Sigma, and Sigmax.

  • UltiMaker: S5, S7, 3, and 2+ Connect.

  • LulzBot: TAZ Pro and TAZ Workhorse.

  • BigRep: ONE and STUDIO (some models only).

  • Raise3D: Some legacy industrial equipment (model dependent).

Key features

  • Industrial toughness and impact resistance: Far surpasses standard PLA, offering Charpy impact strength of up to 17.1 kJ/m², ideal for parts subjected to continuous mechanical stress.

  • Optimal dimensional stability: Its minimal thermal shrinkage effectively prevents warping, ensuring that the geometric tolerances of digital designs are perfectly replicated in reality.

  • Optimized fluidity (Melt Index): With a melt flow index of 6 g/10min at 210°C, it ensures homogeneous extrusion without clogging, allowing for high and stable printing speeds.

  • Superior post-processing ease: Allows for sanding, drilling, and painting operations much more efficiently than other technical polymers, streamlining the finishing of functional prototypes.

  • Odorless and non-toxic printing: Made from renewable organic resources, it is completely safe for use in offices, laboratories, and educational environments.

Product advantages

Unlike generic market alternatives that suffer from structural brittleness or inconsistent diameter, PLA Pro filament offers predictable and repeatable performance. Its balanced formulation minimizes extruder wear and maximizes interlayer molecular cohesion, ensuring that parts printed in the Z-axis retain high structural integrity compared to the industry average. It does not require costly modifications to your printing hardware; it provides the robustness of an engineering polymer with the plug-and-play simplicity of traditional PLA.

Ideal for

  • Engineers and Industrial Designers: Development of functional mechanical prototypes, assemblies with strict tolerances, and ergonomic evaluation models.

  • Manufacturing and Production Workshops: Fabrication of custom tooling, positioning templates (jigs and fixtures), and industrial protective housings.

  • Architects and Model Makers: Complex large-volume structures that require an absolute absence of deformation during long-duration prints.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does PLA Pro filament require an enclosed 3D printer or a high-temperature bed? No. One of its greatest virtues is that it can be printed on any open machine. The recommended bed temperature is only 30 to 60 °C, eliminating the need for peripheral thermal management systems.

How does humidity affect this material, and what is its absorption rate? The material stabilizes its moisture absorption at around 0.291% under normal environmental conditions (70% RH, 23°C). Although it is more tolerant than nylon or polycarbonate, it is recommended to store it in an airtight bag with desiccant when not in use to prevent micro-steam explosions in the nozzle.

What real mechanical difference exists between this PLA Pro and a common PLA? PLA Pro has impact modifiers that exponentially increase its toughness. This means that the part will absorb energy and deform elastically upon impact instead of fracturing cleanly and brittlely like standard PLA.

Is it compatible with soluble support filaments? Yes, it is fully approved for use in dual extrusion systems in combination with advanced support materials such as PolySupport™ and water-soluble supports such as PolyDissolve™ S1.

What chemical resistance does it offer against industrial compounds? The material is not resistant to acids or alkalis (both weak and strong). For applications exposed to aggressive chemical attacks or direct organic solvents, it is advisable to consult our technical service to evaluate technical alternatives.
